Emotional Support

Abortion Doulas:  for patients going through a medication abortion, we offer compassionate, non-judgmental and free support with an abortion doula. A doula is a trained volunteer who can provide emotional and informational support via phone and/or texting throughout your medication abortion procedure.  Reach out to your doctor or clinic staff before starting your abortion if you would like to be connected with a doula.

All Options Mission
All Options promotes unconditional and judgment-free support for the full spectrum of decisions, feelings, and experiences with pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption. Through direct service and social change strategies, we are building a world where all people can make the reproductive decisions that are right for them, without coercion or limitation, and where the dignity of lived experiences is affirmed and honored.

Faith Aloud (1-888-717-5010)
http://www.faithaloud.org/faith/index.php

Faith Aloud wants every woman to feel confident and happy after her decision. We want every woman to feel supported. We believe that women are good, created in the image of God, and able to make difficult decisions. We believe this power to make personal decisions is good and given to us by God. Many women feel judged by people around them who want them to feel badly about their difficult life choices. We will not burden you with moral judgments about your pregnancy and choices. We will listen to your needs and concerns, help you explore all possible choices and will honor your decisions. We want to offer you an opportunity for candid dialogue about your experience and provide the support you need to move forward in a healthy way. Our specially trained counselors are clergy and religious counselors: Roman Catholic, Jewish, Unitarian-Universalist, Protestant Christian, and Buddhist. Persons of no particular religious faith are equally welcome to receive our services. All counselors have the minimum of a Master’s degree that includes theological training and have also completed specialized training in pregnancy options and abortion counseling.

National Abortion Federation Hotline (1-800-772-9100)
https://www.prochoice.org/pregnant/hotline/
The NAF Hotline is the only toll-free source of information about abortion and referrals to providers of quality care in the U.S. and Canada. We provide callers with unbiased, factual information about abortion in English, Spanish, and French. We receive thousands of calls a week from women, their partners, families and friends. The Hotline offers:

Factual information about pregnancy and abortion
Confidential, non-judgmental support
Referrals to quality abortion providers in the caller’s area (1-877-257-0012)
Referrals to funding sources
Help in understanding state abortion restrictions
Case management and limited financial assistance for women in difficult situations

People who call the Hotline come from various backgrounds and situations. We are here to offer our assistance and resources because we believe all women should be treated with dignity and given the respect their individual situations deserve.

Exhale (1-866-439-4253)

Exhale offers a free, After-Abortion Talkline that provides emotional support, resources and information. The talkline is available to women and girls who have had abortions and to their partners, friends, allies and family members. All calls are completely confidential and counselors are non-judgmental.

The talkline is staffed by volunteer peer counselors who have successfully completed more than 50 hours of training. Counselors are trained in Exhale’s Empowerment Model, which is a lens for understanding people’s unique experiences with abortion. The Model is based on three key principles:

Each caller is a whole, complex person
Counselors respect each caller’s belief system (social, cultural, political and religious)
Counselors work with callers to build or extend existing support networks

Women and men of all backgrounds call the Exhale talkline. Some people feel relief that the abortion is finally over and they just want to tell someone. Others feel a sense of loss and are looking for ways to work through their grief. Parents, friends and partners want to learn how they can best provide support. Women may call the day of their abortion, a month after or years later. At Exhale, we believe there is no “right” way to feel after an abortion. We also know that feelings of happiness, sadness, empowerment, anxiety, grief, relief or guilt are common. Abortion can be hard to talk about and finding the right person to talk with can be even harder. Exhale provides the opportunity to talk with someone that supports and respects you, in a safe and confidential environment. Both websites also offer more reproductive resources, such as books, websites, places to find abortion funds and clinics, and other hotlines.
